Turning 40 with an under active thyroid (now treated) had left me nearly 14 stone. I decided enough was enough I was tired of feeling stodgy, unattractive and with no energy or clothes that fitted! As a long time member (but very infrequent user ) of the gym, exercise was key to the weight loss and increased fitness i wanted.

It was my husband’s suggestion to try a personal trainer and he ‘found’ Aaron. Aaron is a very motivational and dedicated professional genuinely interested in helping you achieve your goals. Nothing is too much trouble ; writing programmes for me to do on my own, keeping track of my progress through weight and %body fat measurements and even regularly getting up at 6 am to do a session for me before work, on his day off.

His sessions and programmes are always varied and interesting with many smaller goals along the way to keep you motivated. His helpful tips about diet, meals and snacks and not beating yourself up if you have a bad week were all instrumental in the success achieved.

The result, I lost a total of 44 lbs, am now a size 10 (was 16/18) and am fitter and healthier than ever before. One most important effect – the amount of energy I now have to get on and enjoy life! If you are considering using a personal trainer than I can highly recommend Aaron.

When I first met Richard I weighed just over 12 ½ stone, I was a dress size 16/18, and able to run for perhaps 250 yards before having to stop.

In our first session I remember that when boxing I really didn’t think I could manage to keep going, that I felt weak and thought I would never be able to achieve what my friend, who introduced me, had achieved in terms of fitness.

I was 40 years old and had been fat all my life. I still have the photograph that I took of my reflection in the train window one day, which was the moment I decided to change.

Today I’m a size 10, I weigh 10 stone and am continuing to lose weight, my shape is totally different. My tummy is getting flatter, my hips are slight, someone has commented on my arms looking good. I can run for 8 Kilometers, I am scheduled to run a 10K for charity in a few weeks and am confident of my pace. I can box (I love the boxing!), I can step, I can lift weights. I have so much energy now, I can run and play with my Children. I no longer get an energy dip in the afternoon and I feel and sleep so much better.

The period between these 2 statements is 7 months. However, I noticed an improvement in my stamina and ability within a couple of weeks, and have continued to notice improvement as Richard has changed the way I’m working so that the improvement continues. He is patient, encouraging and kind, yet he will make sure I am giving of my best, he knows what I’m capable of and expects that from me. He works me in short bursts with different activities and equipment because he knows I bore easily, but he pushes me to do things I’m not good at first time – for example anything requiring co-ordination! I don’t even need a gym membership!

Best of all, for me, he has advised me on how to keep up my activity in the time between our weekly sessions and always encourages and praises me even when a workout happens other than in his paid time. He has advised me on eating as well, which of course makes a big difference to my weight.

I can wholeheartedly recommend PT:U, Richard has changed my life for the better and forever and I will always be grateful. Do something about it, today!

I’ve been seeing Rich now for over 5 years and I have to say that my life has changed a lot over those years!

When I started my PT sessions with Rich I was overweight, unfit, taking cholesterol tablets and on my way to getting diabetes. With the support and a lot of patience he has got me through and out the other side.

I quite quickly noticed my fitness levels increase and I could stop taking my tablets. I started to feel stronger and my energy increased. I’m not going to lie sometimes it’s hard and I’ll be muttering under my breath at him – burpees are always hell!! But you know that it’s all worth it and you’ll feel better after. I have completed the Moonwalk (26.2 mile walk) 5 times but I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second of it for the first time last year  – my increased fitness levels made all the difference.

The weight hasn’t been so easy! It’s been a bit up and down over the years but in the last year and a half we have cracked it! I now prefer my healthy foods and feel so much better for it. I have now lost over 3 stone, and have gone from a size 18 to a size 10. I feel fab!! I love feeling strong and love that I can do proper press ups.

People say they can’t remember me being big but I can and I can remember the feelings that came with it. I feel so much better about myself now and I think this enabled me to give off the right vibes to meet my gorgeous man. Next goal is to get the dream wedding dress body! We’re nearly there and with the help of Rich I know I’ll get there! I really don’t think I would have got here without him.

I would highly recommend Rich. He will be 100% behind you (even when you don’t want him to be!) in helping you achieve your goals. He is always committed to his clients and will always be there with support and advice. If you want to change your life let Rich help you, he’ll make it a whole lot easier.

I had always wanted to improve my health and fitness and when I got engaged it gave me the push I needed to get started. I never considered myself unhealthy but looking back now I realise that I was. I had eczema around my eyes, I suffered with IBS and was often sick for no apparent reason. I felt tired a lot of the time and didn’t have much energy for anything.

I can honestly say that training with Aaron has changed my life, It sounds dramatic but it’s true. My body shape has changed so much, my IBS is under control and my eczema has gone. Without him I would still be unfit and unhappy with my appearance. I still have a lot of room for improvement and am always setting myself new challenges along the way but I know with Aaron helping me I will get there. I don’t know what I’d do without him.

Fitness is a way of life and there is no quick fix, Aaron has helped me realise that. He is so supportive and motivational. Everyone has their off days and when I arrive feeling like I can’t be bothered he manages to help me find some energy from somewhere. He will push you and he will work you hard but he’ll get you the results you ask for! I wouldn’t recommend anyone more highly!

‘Richard Jones is simply awesome! His skill, knowledge and approach to personal training has helped me change my entire life. My name is Aji Sharif also known as Aji “The General” Sharif, I am a professional cruiser weight boxer signed under Goodwin promotions. I first met Richard Jones of PT:U when I was introduced by my head boxing coach Andy Edge who had worked with Richard with another professional boxer Michael Sprott who was a former British, commonwealth, and European champion.

I started to work with Richard for strength and conditioning in January 2014 for which I was preparing for my professional fight in March. Richard introduced a lot of new methods and training techniques to enhance my speed, fitness, power and endurance. The results where outstanding in which I won the fight in the first round by knockout. I’ve been working with Rich ever since. I also have had some sessions with Aaron Hopkins who works alongside Rich at PT:U and fills in for him on a few occasions when Rich is away to keep consistency in my training.

I first decided to have personal training sessions with Aaron for an upcoming holiday; my goal was to lose some weight and to tone up. I had tried several ‘diets’ on my own and lost and regained the some few pounds over and over again. Although I did go to the gym, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing; so I mainly stuck to cardio in order to burn some calories. Aaron has made the whole process really enjoyable, and I have had great results while sticking to the plan he had drawn up for me. As well as a new exercise plan, he also put me a new diet plan together.

The diet was great as he worked it around my lifestyle and foods I would normally eat; as a result, it was then far easier to stick to and I wasn’t hungry at all. He has also adjusted the diet plan as we have gone along to reflect what I have been doing at the time, which has been really helpful, as this is not something that I would have known to change myself.

With regards to exercise, I have been using a five day plan that Aaron has created for me which includes free-weights, intervals, kettle bells and circuits. I have been having one personal training session a week with Aaron, and the rest of the week I have been training by myself; he had gone through all of the exercises with me so I knew exactly what I was doing, it has definitely helped me feel more comfortable when training alone.

The PT sessions are what really kept me going, as having someone encouraging me all the way through, really helps to get the most out of a session. I frequently ask him questions about what I am doing, and he is always more than happy to help.

It has been much easier and more enjoyable since having more variety in the exercise rather than just doing cardio all of the time; I haven’t felt like I have wanted to give up as I have done previously. At first I was slightly nervous, as I did feel unfit and I had never used free-weights or kettle bells before; Aaron was really helpful through this and kettle bells have now become one of my favourite things to do.

I am really pleased he encouraged me out of my comfort zone, as this is something I would never have tried on my own. Taking up personal training sessions have been one of the best things I have done; in the 12 weeks that I followed the diet and exercise plan, I have lost 3.9kgs, 6% body fat, and a total of 8.5 inches.

I achieved the results that I had wanted before my holiday which was my original goal. However, I have also enjoyed it much more than I ever thought I would, and the results have been amazing. I have felt better and more confident than I ever have previously, and will continue to have PT sessions to feel to reach my next goal.

This year I took part in the Zero to Hero Boxing programme which takes a group of guys with no boxing experience and teaches them over 10 weeks building up to a grand finale of fighting in front of a 2000 strong crowd.
In the 6 weeks leading up to the fight I trained at PTU under the watchful eye of Aaron who’s knowledge, support and intense training sessions took me to a level of fitness which I would never have thought possible. PTU is without doubt the best facility I have trained at and the equipment they use to maximise results is the best there is.
During my 6 weeks training at PTU I lost over 7kgs in weight, gained muscle and defined body composition. My cardio was second to none and I was voted the fighter with the most improved fitness in the Zero to Hero Red Team. I went into the fight full of confidence in my fitness and ability which took me forward to victory. I cannot thank Aaron and the team enough, I am in the shape of my life and will continue to train at PTU to stay that way.

All you need to do is bring plenty of heart and determination, Aaron will show you the way.

‘When I finally became so over-weight I didn’t even want to look at myself in a mirror, I decided I needed to change my appearance and have a healthier lifestyle.

After getting in to contact with Richard Jones at PT:U, Richard met with me and since then my life has changed completely. Richard really listened to my problems and really seemed to take on board what I was saying and then put together a program for me that was challenging but I felt could be achieved. I began to train hard everyday of the week and saw results instantly.

I also changed my diet and started to consume less calories and eat healthier than i would usually instead of skipping breakfast and over eating. So far I’ve managed to go from being 128kg down to now being 91kg all in the space of just 15 weeks.

As a result of this i feel much healthier and my stamina has increased drastically. Not only this, but i now feel a lot more confident where as before I was so concerned about my weight it was affecting my social life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard for all his hard work and belief and confidence in me as I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without his help. I intend to keep up the hard work continuing to re-shape my future in to a healthier one and also encourage anyone who is planning on losing weight like I was to go for it, as the hardest part is taking that initial step. Going to the gym was something that I rarely did. I thought it was boring, looked like to much hard work and at times found myself getting intimidated by those taking it rather seriously.

I played football twice a week and did some spin classes and thought that was enough exercise after all it was more than what other people were doing. The issue I had was that my diet was poor. I had no portion control, grazed regularly with sweets, crisps and cake and consumed far to much alcohol. All the good work I did was quickly undone, I was eating and drinking more than I was burning off.

It was now 3 months until I was getting married! I wanted to look good for my wedding and looking at recent pictures and in the mirror some major work was needed.

I wanted a personal trainer as I needed a real big kick up the backside. I didn’t want to join a gym nor did I want to train in a large gym for the reasons mentioned previously.

So PT:U at Winnersh was absolutely perfect. The gym is a perfect size. It has everything you would expect and need.

I met Aaron for the first time when I turned up for my initial meeting to discuss my goals. He was extremely passionate about what he did and talked me through the gym and his approach to getting and staying fit.

I was sold straight away. On my first session I got weighed and then that is when it sink in. I was overweight, had very little muscle and did not drink enough water. Aaron certainly had his work cut out. I could not even do a press up !

The first sessions flew by and I felt a difference straight away. Aaron talked to me a lot about diet, food options and portion size. He helped me see what I was eating and drinking was not good for me so we set up my food diary.

In the 3 months leading up to the wedding I completely cut out the booze (except my stag do!) and started drinking plenty of water.

I booked a further sessions and visited aaron 2/3 times a week. Each session was different and challenging and we focused mainly on burning fat to start with. Aaron was really supportive, encouraging me and pushing me to help me achieve my goal. We would also have fun whilst we were training and have plenty of banter at every session.

I was building muscle and losing weight and feeling good. Again Aaron would be checking my food diary and always suggesting new ideas to try. He would send me through a workout to try at home every week. For me he was going above and beyond what a pt does. He was keeping me on track to lose a stone by the wedding!

I managed to get a further few sessions in before the wedding. Aaron kept pushing me helping me to reach my goal. He was with me every step of the way.

With the help of Aaron I dropped 11 pounds and put on 2 pounds of muscle, I also had to have my wedding suit taken in 3 times, it was great. Not for the tailor though!!

I used up the rest of my sessions following my honeymoon. I had the buzz now. I was enjoying my PT something I never thought possible.

I have never felt and looked better. I now look forward to exercising and find my diet has got better to.

They say you get out what you put in. I believe I have put the effort in and am reaping the rewards.

Aaron has pushed me and helped me achieve what I thought wasn’t possible. He is firm but fair, and that is exactly what I need. He doesn’t let me give up and our sessions are hard work but thoroughly rewarding. I always leave with a smile on my face feeling tired but knowing I have pushed myself for that hour.

I cannot thank aaron enough for what he has done. He has helped me changed my life and for that I am very grateful.

I was recommended to PT:U to help me with my triathlon training. I was looking to develop my strength and stamina and reduce the risk of injuries from running.
